Birdy

Today we stopped by Dave & Mary Ann's General Store in Caledonia, WI to take a gander around and purchase the cadillac of Victorian birdcages that Mr. Vaughan has been obsessed with for at least the last 2 years. The General Store is quite a lovely oasis of gardens and outbuildings that circle a very old barn-type structure. Dave and Mary Ann have been in the antique business for quite some time and have got quite a collection.....

These antique stained glass windows frame the outside stairway leading to the garden.

I am swooning over this piece of chippy Victorian dentil/gingerbread molding Dave has placed as a shed side.

And there she is...LOVE at first sight!

Mr. Vaughan had taken a picture of this on his old phone (2 phones ago!) and would show anyone who ventured into the slightest antique/bird conversation with him! Obsess much, Mr. Vaughan?

Cute little outbuildings nestled among the greenest grass
               and perennials.

"The Greenhouse" was where our bird cage was nestled.

While Mr. Vaughan wrangled the cage into the car with Dave, Little Mister ambled about and rescued some beetles with me. There were four of those darn Japanese Beetles drowning in one of the wash basins outside the greenhouse. They were too pretty to drown, and so we rescued them. Mary Ann wasn't too excited about that.

                                                                Ahhhh...safety!

Little Mister looks for more beetles....

On our way home after dropping off Mr. Vaughan at work we decided to stop at the thrift store. Little Mister gamely donned a vintage babushka scarf to show everyone!
