Belly Aches

It's hard, and I'm not even two full weeks into it.

The hubby called the day after he shipped to Basic Training and while it was nice to hear from him, it was heartbreaking at the same time. It is hard to know my sweet husband is being treated like an 18 year old with no sense, no dignity. He is 30 years old, a hard worker, a good man, disciplined already. He has a civilian job which he has held for 8 years. And a family, a wife and son that are desperate to hear from him. I just don't understand why they do some of the degrading things they do there.

He started to cry during the phone call. It made my belly ache to hear his pain. His sadness. How tough this is for all of us. I just keep counting down the days until I can hug him again. Until I can feel like a partner again. Until I can feel whole.

And until then, I face "challenges" like fixing our old wooden picket fence outside. Oh, yes I did! Fixed. Done. Hopefully those kids next door will stop hanging on it and I won't have to fix it again!
